Sophie Stolzenberger studied Meteorology at the University of Bonn. Since September 2014, she is part of the CRC project B3.
One aim of B3 is the spatial climate reconstruction between Mid-Europe and the Levant using all available proxy and model data.
This presentation looks at the comparison between model simulations which are taken from the PMIP3 (Paleoclimate Modelling Intercomparison Project) data base and statistical climate reconstructions based on pollen data. The aim is to optimise the model data by including the probabilistic information of the occured taxa. This concept will be presented and discussed. For the mid-Holocene (6 ka ago), especially the summer temperatures change significantly when assimilating the model data to the observed pollen data. In this case (and depending on the weighting method), the original model data show lower values, especially overland, compared to the generated simulations.
